Directors Page-OHIO GWRRA
The fall officers meeting is now history. We started the meeting with some of the changes coming in GWRRA on January 1, 2018. The chapter won’t see a lot of changes. The main change is that the Ride Coordinator becomes an officer’s position. Requirements for this position are for the person who signs the MOU (membership of understanding) to be at least a Level II in the level’s program and to have taken the Road Captain’s Course. The position of chapter educator is no longer an officer’s position; however the chapter can still have a chapter educator if they want. Safety becomes an important part of each person in the chapter.
Gregory Smith, who many of you know as Cherryhair, has agreed to be the new District Ride Coordinator. Another change to our district team is the position of treasurer. Karen Ballou will take over this position. Gary Ballou will be in charge of Motorist Awareness at the district position. We want to welcome both Gary and Karen back on the district team. They served as the Ohio District Couple for 2016 and then continued as the Region D Couple of the Year for 2016-2017. We want to give a big THANK YOU to Linda and Tim Fleming who spent three years as our treasurer and certificate maker.
Another small change comes in the position of Motorist Awareness. Instead of a quarterly report, the report will be completed monthly in the form of a checklist for National. Just as safety becomes the job of everyone in the chapter so does motorist awareness. The seminar that was added a few years ago to be current in Level III and IV of the levels program is no longer a requirement.
There is still ongoing change with training. One clarification we are still working on is when a flier will need to be approved for an event such as Safety Saturday / Sunday or a training blitz. We will pass on this information as soon as we know.
December will be busy for many chapters with their Christmas parties or celebrations. Before we know it Cabin Fever will be approaching. Fliers were distributed at the fall officer’s meeting and the website will have registration up and running. There are a lot of fun activities planned again this year. We hope to see you at Mohican State Park Lodge in Perrysville, Ohio on February 2nd and 3rd of 2018. We are curious to see what kind of “Food Mascots” everyone will dress up as.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
